LuLu Group launches major solar energy project across Dubai facilities

By: Utilities Middle east

LuLu Group has launched a major solar energy initiative across five key facilities in Dubai, with the project aiming to reduce the company’s carbon footprint while delivering long-term energy savings, supporting the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 vision.

According to the news report by Zawya, the initiative, in partnership with Positive Zero, will see solar plant installations on the rooftops of LuLu Hypermarkets in Al Warqa, Rashidiya, and Dubai Investments Park (DIP), as well as the LuLu Central Logistics hub in DIP and the Regional Office in Al Qusais. The Regional Office installation is already operational, with other facilities coming online throughout September to November.

Positive Zero is providing a turnkey solution, managing the design, installation, and maintenance of the solar systems. Once fully operational, the installations are expected to generate more than 37 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy over the lease term, preventing approximately 25,000 metric tons of carbon emissions—enough to power over 5,200 homes for a year or plant more than 400,000 trees over a decade.

Salim M A, Director of LuLu Global Operations, said: “Sustainability is at the core of our operations. This solar initiative is a meaningful step in reducing our environmental footprint while embracing innovation in energy efficiency. We are proud to align our efforts with the UAE’s national goals for a greener future.”
