Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - Cooperative Logistics Supply Support Arrangement Program, Foreign Military Sales Order II Case
The U.S. State Department has approved a potential foreign military sale to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, valued at an estimated $500 million. The proposed sale is for a Cooperative Logistics Supply Support Arrangement (CLSSA) to provide spare parts and repair services for the Royal Saudi Land Forces' fleet of U.S.-origin military helicopters.
According to the required notification sent to Congress by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the support will cover aircraft including UH-60 Black Hawks, AH-64 Apaches, and CH-47F Chinooks. The U.S. government stated the sale supports its foreign policy by enhancing the security of a regional partner, improving Saudi Arabia's ability to maintain its helicopter fleet and operate alongside U.S. forces. The notification also clarified that the sale would not alter the regional military balance, require sending additional U.S. personnel, or impact U.S. defense readiness.
