Ghana Gold Board MD to Deliver Keynote at Mining in Motion 2025

Sammy Gyamfi, Managing Director of the newly established Ghana Gold Board, will deliver a keynote address at the upcoming Mining in Motion Summit, Ghana’s premier event for the mining sector, taking place on June 2-4, 2025 in Accra.
Gyamfi’s address will offer stakeholders a deeper understanding of the Ghana Gold Board’s vision and strategic objectives for transforming the country’s gold industry. The establishment of the Board marks a pivotal move towards creating a more regulated, ethical and economically impactful gold sector. Reflecting the government’s commitment to unlocking the full potential of its gold resources, the Board aims to promote sustainable mining practices.
As of May 1, 2025, the Ghana Gold Board will serve as the exclusive legal buyer and trader of gold in the domestic market, especially from the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector. Small-scale miners contributed $5 billion in gold exports in 2024, representing one third of the country’s total output. The Board’s efforts to curb gold smuggling, formalize ASM operations and ensure a larger share of gold production flows through official channels are expected to boost economic growth.
The agency is also committed to enhancing environmental sustainability by aligning artisanal miners with international standards through structured permits and trade systems. At Mining in motion, Gyamfi will elaborate on these objectives and provide updates on the Board’s progress and policy direction. The summit offers a platform for key players across Ghana’s mining value chain to collaborate, innovate and shape the sector’s future.
