Fujairah F3 power plant begins full commercial operations

By: Energy live news

Full commercial operations have begun at the Fujairah F3 Independent Power Producer (IPP) project, one of the largest gas-fired power plants in the Middle East.

The 2.4GW facility, located in Qidfa, Fujairah, will power around 380,000 homes and is expected to play a key role in supporting the UAE’s transition to cleaner energy.

The project brings together TAQA, EWEC, Marubeni Corporation, Mubadala Investment Company and Hokuriku Electric Power Company, with TAQA holding a 40% stake and Marubeni owning 20.4%, Mubadala 20% and Hokuriku 19.6%.

EWEC is the sole procurer of electricity under a long term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

The plant uses advanced JAC-class gas turbine technology from Mitsubishi Power within a high-efficiency Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) setup. Its design enables rapid response, low emissions and operational flexibility to support renewable integration.

Andreas Collor, Chief Operations Officer of TAQA’s Generation business said: “The Fujairah F3 IPP reaching full commercial operations is an important milestone for TAQA. This plant exemplifies our commitment to becoming the low carbon power and water champion.”
