Emarat appoints Bilfinger to design new jet-fuel pipeline to Al Maktoum International Airport
Emirates General Petroleum Company (Emarat) has awarded an engineering and design contract to the industrial services firm Bilfinger for a new cross-country aviation fuel pipeline in Dubai. The pipeline will create a direct link between the Emdad Aviation Fuel Storage terminal in Jebel Ali and the fuel depot at Al Maktoum International Airport (AMIA).
The project is a strategic initiative to strengthen Dubai's long-term jet fuel infrastructure and supply chain resilience for its aviation sector. By establishing this dedicated logistics corridor, the aim is to increase fuel throughput and significantly reduce the current reliance on road tankers, which complicates operational planning and fleet scheduling.
HE Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi, CEO of Emarat, emphasized that "Fuel infrastructure is national infrastructure," stating the project will enhance the reliability, safety, and capacity of Dubai's jet-fuel supply to support the next decade of growth at the airport. Bilfinger's scope of work includes the full engineering design, project management, and planning for installation, ensuring all technical, safety, and regulatory requirements are met for a smooth handover to operations.
