El-Sisi meets Scatec and Envision to deepen Egypt renewables push
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has met with executives from Scatec and Envision Energy to discuss expanding cooperation in renewable energy and green investment projects across Egypt, according to a news report by Zawya.
During the meeting, El-Sisi emphasised the government’s priority to attract foreign direct investment into renewable energy, highlighting Egypt’s competitive advantages and strategic geographic position linking Africa, Europe and the Middle East. He reiterated ambitions to position Egypt as a regional hub for clean energy production and export.
A central theme of the discussions was technology localisation and increasing local content in major renewable projects. The president stressed the importance of building domestic capabilities in solar, wind and energy storage infrastructure, while strengthening related supply chains to support both local demand and export-oriented production.
Representatives from Scatec and Envision Energy affirmed their intention to expand investments in Egypt, citing improvements in the business environment and effective coordination with national authorities. They also acknowledged government support for renewable energy projects and the wind turbine industry.
The talks reviewed Scatec’s plans to further develop energy infrastructure in Egypt, particularly in solar generation and electricity storage systems, alongside expanded wind power deployment supported by Envision’s turbine manufacturing expertise.
Participants underscored Egypt’s strong renewable resource base and its potential to export clean energy and low-carbon products to regional and international markets. They emphasised continued collaboration to accelerate green economy initiatives and attract high-value-added foreign investment.
The meeting forms part of Egypt’s broader strategy to deepen partnerships with leading international renewable developers and reinforce its standing as a destination for sustainability and green transformation projects.
