Dakhla Africa Logistics Forum calls for better African coordination to overcome supply chains obstacles
The Dakhla Africa Logistics Forum was held over this weekend at the pearl of Moroccan Saharan city with the participation of key players from transport, trade, logistics, and investment sectors.
They called for the deployment of an integrated African logistics ecosystem, supported by an African logistics Council and an African body monitoring the logistics performance across the continent.
The goal of these initiatives is to enable African countries control their supply chains and overcome the obstacles hampering the low level of intra-African trade (accounting for approximately 15% of continental trade).
They commended Morocco for its giant Dakhla Atlantic port under construction, saying this strategic landmark project will contribute to fostering trade exchanges and regional economic integration.Clean Mobility Solutions
The experts stressed the need to harmonize African logistics corridors to unlock the full potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
They also called for encouraging traceability and streamlining trade, enhancing security and improving efficiency through reinforced cooperation, standardized regulations, and digital integration between African port authorities and customs administrations.
The Delegates insisted on integrating the green dimension in logistics and agreed on setting up a “Green Logistics Africa” label, low-carbon logistics corridors and promoting Dakhla port as a green hydrogen hub.
They likewise underlined the importance of human capital development and called for the establishment of an African Academy for Trade and Logistics based in Dakhla. The academy will provide specialized training for both youth and professionals, while promoting academic mobility across borders to build a skilled logistics workforce in Africa.
The event was organized by the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services in collaboration with the Regional Council.
