Côte d’Ivoire to launch of SIREXE to Boost the Extractive and Energy Industries
In an effort to showcase Côte d’Ivoire’s mining and energy potential to the world, the Ivorian authorities officially launched the first edition of the International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources (SIREXE) on Monday, July 1, 2024.
Held under the theme « Sustainable Development of Extractive and Energy Industries: What Policies and Strategies? », the event is scheduled to take place from November 27 to December 2, 2024. Due to their recognized expertise in hydrocarbons, Norway, Germany, Botswana, and Zambia will attend as special guests.
“In recent years, Côte d’Ivoire has strengthened its position in the extractive and energy industries through the implementation of major sectoral recovery programs and structural reforms. These efforts have led to significant discoveries, as a result of improved macroeconomic conditions, a consolidated climate of peace, and renewed investor confidence.”
Robert Beugré Mambé, Prime Minister, Côte d’Ivoire
A flagship initiative of the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy, SIREXE aligns with President Alassane Ouattara’s vision to make the mineral and energy resources sector a driving force for sustained and inclusive economic growth. The event aims to attract both domestic and international private investment, while providing a high-level platform for exchange and collaboration among key stakeholders in Africa and globally.
“SIREXE will also serve as a showcase to raise public awareness of the extractive and energy industries and will be a powerful tool to promote local content.”
Sangafowa Coulibaly, Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy, Côte d’Ivoire
Africa holds vast hydrocarbon reserves, and Côte d’Ivoire is positioning itself as a key player in this international market. In 2023, the country boosted its oil production following the launch of operations at the Baleine field. A second development phase, expected by the end of 2024, aims to raise output to 50,000 barrels of oil per day and 70 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
