CMA CGM launches direct service at the Port of Duqm

By: Oman observer

Global shipping carrier CMA CGM has launched a new direct shipping service to the Asyad Container Terminal at the Port of Duqm in Oman. The service was inaugurated with the arrival of its first vessel, a move described as a major milestone in integrating Duqm into global maritime trade routes.

The service strengthens Duqm's position as a strategic logistics gateway on Oman's Indian Ocean coast, expanding the international connectivity network led by Asyad Group and reinforcing the port's role within global trade corridors. For CMA CGM, the move marks an expansion of its footprint in the Middle East and Africa, while for Oman, it supports the national ambition to establish itself as a competitive regional logistics hub.

Omar bin Mahmoud al Mahrizi, CEO of Asyad Ports and Freezones, stated that the partnership with a leading international carrier reflects strong confidence in the port's operational efficiency. He added that the service will enhance Duqm's global visibility, expand opportunities for exporters and importers, and support the growth of key economic sectors, particularly benefiting dry and refrigerated cargo essential to modern supply chains.

The Port of Duqm, located within the Duqm Special Economic Zone, is increasingly positioned as a future hub for trade and industry, linking Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and the Middle East.
