CLMI convenes policymakers for logistics summit

By: Punch

The Courier and Logistics Management Institute (CLMI) has announced its International Conference & Investiture 2025, a high-level summit designed to shape the future of trade, logistics, and economic transformation across Africa. The event is scheduled for November 26, 2025, at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria. It is positioned as a world-class platform to convene policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators to address the trends and opportunities within Africa's rapidly growing logistics ecosystem.

Distinguished Professor Simon Emeje, the Executive Chairman of CLMI, emphasized the immense economic significance of the global logistics market, which is valued at an average of $60 trillion. He stressed that Africa must strengthen its competitiveness in this sector, especially as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement gains momentum, to secure a larger share of this global market.

Professor Emeje highlighted the transformative potential of the logistics sector for national economies, using Nigeria as a key example. He stated that Nigeria has over-relied on oil and gas, whereas the courier and logistics sector, which is currently valued at about N25 trillion, has the capacity to generate up to 50% of the country's revenue if its potential is fully unlocked through targeted policies and investments.

The conference, themed ‘Building Entrepreneurship and National Wealth through Trade Logistics’, aims to be a catalyst for this transformation. It is described as a unique platform where strategies are formed, partnerships are nurtured, and actionable insights are developed to drive real economic impact across the continent.

The event will feature high-level leadership, with Senator Aliyu Ikra Bilbis, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Communications, serving as the chairman of the occasion. Senator Adedayo Clement Adeyeye, Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority, will deliver the keynote address, underscoring the policy focus of the gathering.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with top industry executives and policymakers. The agenda is designed to provide insights into building sustainable businesses, explore career and investment opportunities, and offer a roadmap for repositioning Africa's logistics industry as a driver of global competitiveness.

Through this conference and its other initiatives, CLMI reaffirms its commitment to advancing professionalism, excellence, and innovation across the logistics and supply chain sectors in Africa. The institute aims to equip professionals and emerging leaders with the necessary tools and networks to actively shape the continent's economic future.
