Bloomberg Commodity Index 2026 Target Weights Announced

By: Bloomberg

Bloomberg has announced the 2026 target weights and composition for the Bloomberg Commodity Index (BCOM) a widely tracked benchmark with an estimated $1088 billion in assets under management

A key change for 2026 is the reintroduction of Cocoa which met the inclusion criteria for two consecutive years after previously being in the index from its inception until 2005 The Energy sector's overall weight declined slightly to 2944% led by lower weightings for Natural Gas and WTI Crude Oil while Brent Crude Oil rose to a record 836% weight highlighting a continued shift in global crude market dynamics

The Precious Metals group edged higher to 1884% supported by an increase in Gold which remains the index's largest single component The Industrial Metals group also rose to 1576% driven by a significant increase in Copper's weighting

Among agricultural commodities the Grains sector saw its overall exposure decline to 2115% while the Softs group experienced the largest relative increase jumping to 917% from 761% bolstered by the addition of Cocoa These annual changes are determined based on liquidity and production data while adhering to strict diversification rules that cap group and individual commodity weights
