ASRY and Roboze launch Bahrain advanced manufacturing hub

By: Logistics middle east

Bahrain is establishing its first advanced additive manufacturing facility through a partnership between the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) and Italian industrial 3D printing firm Roboze. The agreement, signed in the presence of Bahrain's Crown Prince and Italy's Prime Minister, signals strong governmental support for enhancing the kingdom's industrial competitiveness.

The new facility, located within ASRY's industrial complex, will focus on maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) for the maritime sector while also serving the oil and gas, energy, aerospace, and defense industries. It aims to enable rapid, on-demand production of durable, high-specification components using advanced super-polymers and composites, reducing reliance on overseas supply chains, cutting logistics costs, and minimizing downtime for critical assets.

The partnership leverages Roboze's expertise in high-performance additive manufacturing and its global network of decentralized smart factories. This initiative aligns with Bahrain's national goals of industrial diversification and building resilience against global supply disruptions by localizing the production of specialized components. The facility is expected to strengthen Bahrain's position in high-tech manufacturing and develop local expertise in digital fabrication, supporting the broader Gulf regional trend of capturing more value within local supply chains.
