Australian junior mining company Asara Resources announced on Monday, May 18, the appointment of Aurélien Douyère as chief financial officer.

Through the appointment, the company aims to strengthen its financial management capabilities and accelerate development of its Kada gold project in Guinea.

“We are delighted to welcome Aurélien as chief financial officer of the company at this important stage of Asara’s growth. Following the success of the A$60 million institutional placement, the time has come to strengthen Asara’s financial leadership. Aurélien’s extensive experience in finance, strategy and business improvement will be essential in advancing our exploration activities at our flagship Kada gold project,” Chief Executive Officer Matthew Sharples said regarding the appointment.

In its statement, Asara described Douyère as a chartered accountant with more than 15 years of experience in senior financial leadership roles within listed companies, including extensive expertise across Africa.

Before joining Asara, Douyère served as chief financial officer at Sahara Natural Resources, a mining services company.

Under his new role, he will notably oversee the financial strategy linked to the Kada project at a critical development stage where fundraising efforts and disciplined cash management will play a key role in advancing operations.

The Kada project currently hosts mineral resources estimated at 923,000 ounces of gold.  The asset is undergoing an exploration program aimed at expanding its resource potential. Asara is seeking to advance Kada toward the next stages of development for a future gold mine.

In line with that strategy, the company announced earlier this month a capital raising of A$60 million, equivalent to about $43.3 million. The coming months will now show how the project’s development momentum evolves with support from the company’s new chief financial officer.
