Nigeria has commissioned a 1 GW solar plant capable of producing 2 million panels annually, intended to reduce import expenditures by $600 million per year. The facility is projected to generate up to 2,000 employment opportunities and will provide panels for essential services like schools and hospitals, as well as for mini grids. Despite this advancement, imports, particularly from China, continue to hold a dominant market share.
