Under a 2023 agreement, Jordan imports approximately 300,000 barrels of Iraqi crude oil monthly, a supply vital to its energy security. Both nations are also advancing energy infrastructure projects, including a planned Basra-Aqaba pipeline and a power interconnection line set for full operation in 2026. Concurrently, Iraq is expanding its regional electricity grid, with new connections to Gulf states, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia poised to add significant capacity. Despite current domestic generation of over 27,000 megawatts, Iraq still faces a substantial shortfall to meet its total national electricity demand....
