Robex provides Kiniéro’s first gold pour
Robex Resources (ASX:RXR) has poured its first gold from the Kiniéro Gold Project in Guinea, West Africa, weighing in at 2.64kg in the first smelt on site.
The Kiniéro plant is expected to reach its nameplate capacity in early Q1 2026, with ramp up activities described to be progressing “smoothly” and recoveries being achieved in line with Robex’s expectations.
CEO Matthew Wilcox describes this gold pour as a “major milestone” for the company, delivering its first gold pour on schedule and within budget.
“Completing construction and commencing gold production is the culmination of 17 months of dedication and hard work, delivered safely and responsibly with nearly five million hours worked without a lost time injury,” Wilcox says.
“Pouring first gold at Kiniéro reflects the calibre of our people, the strength of our execution and is the sixth successful build in the last 15 years by this construction team, all on time and on budget.
“This exceptional track record, combined with recent Guinea construction experience, gives us absolute confidence that this is the best team in the industry right now to bring Bankan into production and deliver another world-class West African gold project.”
Robex is under a proposed merger of the asset with Predictive Discovery’s (ASX:PDI) Bankan Gold Project, located within 25km of Kiniéro. A successful delivery from Kiniéro will inform this merger, which is projected to provide an annual production of more than 400,000 ounces gold by 2029, along with a combined resource of 9.5 million ounces gold.
The Kiniéro asset has a life of mine of 9.5 years, hosting 1.4 million ounces of probable resources. Robex acquired the asset in April 2022, as a part of its business combination with Sycamore Mining.
The project spans 470km2 of mining licences in the Siguiri Basin in Guinea.
Kiniéro is the company’s second producing asset, with the Nampala asset in Mali currently following a guidance of between 46,000 and 48,000 ounces of gold produced per year. The gold mine has a capacity of 50,000 ounces, with 230,000 ounces produced since 2017.
Meanwhile, Robex is ramping up open-pit mining at the South Sabalia starter pit, with ore stockpiles currently building on the run-of-mine pad.
Robex Resources is a Canadian gold mining company with a portfolio comprising the Nampala Project in Mali and the Kiniéro Project in Guinea.
