Qatar, Saudi Arabia Among Global Natural Gas Leaders

Natural gas remains a cornerstone of the global energy system, fuelling power generation, heating, and industrial production.
While Russia and Iran lead in proven reserves, Qatar and Saudi Arabia continue to assert their positions among the world’s top five natural gas holders, reinforcing the Middle East’s critical role in the sector.
According to CEOWORLD Magazine, Qatar ranks third globally with 858,098,000 proven natural gas reserves (in million cubic feet), Saudi Arabia holds 303,284,000, securing fifth place globally.
While less prominent than Qatar in the global LNG market, Saudi Arabia’s reserves highlight the Kingdom’s growing ambitions to diversify and expand its gas sector in support of domestic industrial growth and energy transition goals.
Together, Qatar and Saudi Arabia’s ranking in the global top five underscores the strategic weight of the Middle East in the future of global energy.
