Beginning on December 9, 2024, the SWS will include a weekly direct call at Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, reinforcing PIL’s commitment to expanding its network coverage throughout West Africa. This upgrade builds upon the service enhancements introduced in April 2024, which saw the incorporation of 7,000 TEU vessels into the SWS, aimed at providing increased capacity and improved schedule stability.

Mr. William Ho, General Manager of Long Haul Trade at PIL, emphasized the importance of the African market, stating, “Africa is a key market for PIL. Having served the continent since the 1970s, PIL’s strong presence and extensive services now cover close to 30 countries in Africa. With our commitment to ‘Putting Customers First,’ we are dedicated to investing in this region, pushing boundaries to enhance our service offerings, and delivering more value to our customers!”

The updated rotation for the SWS will encompass the following ports: Xingang, Qingdao, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, Singapore, Tema, Lome, Lagos (Apapa), Onne, Abidjan, and will return to Singapore and Xingang.
