Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) has reviewed the findings of a feasibility study by U.S.-based Honeywell on the expansion and modernization of the Zawiya Oil Refining Company. The results were described as “very encouraging,” confirming the potential to develop the refinery to meet a significant share of domestic gasoline demand.

According to the NOC, the upgrade would reduce reliance on imports, cut subsidy costs and contribute to broader economic stability.

The findings were presented during a meeting on August 18 at NOC headquarters in Tripoli, led by the Chairman and members of the NOC Board of Directors, along with the Chairman and members of the Management Committee of the Zawiya Oil Refining Company.

Discussions also highlighted the importance of regular maintenance across Libya’s refining network to sustain output and prevent operational disruptions.
