Kinross trims Asante Gold stake with C$46m share sale

Kinross offloaded 29.85-million common shares at C$1.55 a share, representing about 4.2% of Asante’s outstanding equity and nearly 45% of Kinross’s holdings. Following the sale, Kinross retains 36.9-million shares, five-million warrants and a convertible debenture exercisable at C$1.81 a share.
The transaction cuts Kinross’s ownership in Asante to 5.2% on a non-diluted basis and 13.2% on a partially diluted basis, down from 9.4% and 18%, respectively.
Kinross described the move as part of the ordinary course of portfolio management and said it may adjust its position further depending on market conditions and other factors.
Asante operates the Bibiani and Chirano gold mines in Ghana.
