Hexagon advances net zero goals with digital innovation

Hexagon PPM Middle East advances the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 goal by delivering tailored digital and sustainability solutions across the Middle East, says Joseph El Bitar, Vice President and General Manager.

“At Hexagon, our commitment to sustainability and digital transformation extends beyond borders,” El Bitar explains. “We actively support national visions across the Middle East—in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Egypt and Kuwait—delivering solutions that match each country’s decarbonisation and digitalisation goals.”
Central to this approach is Hexagon’s SDx2 platform, which integrates engineering, operations and real-time sensor data into a unified environment. “SDx2 enables industries to operate smarter, safer and more sustainably by improving decision-making, boosting efficiency and reducing emissions,” El Bitar says.
Complementing this are Hexagon’s Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions, designed to extend asset life, reduce downtime and optimise performance—key factors in energy-intensive sectors.
On diversifying energy portfolios, El Bitar highlights the role of digitalisation: “Whether managing a solar farm, hydrogen plant or offshore platform, our technology standardises asset data, improves performance and enables predictive insights that reduce waste and emissions.”
He adds that Hexagon’s teams work closely with regional stakeholders to “model the impact of emissions on energy portfolios and design practical decarbonisation pathways,” combining strategy with measurable outcomes.
Innovation also drives the company’s operational priorities. “We use AI and machine learning to anticipate risks, automate decisions and continuously improve asset performance,” El Bitar says. The SDx2 platform “creates a digital thread across connected systems, enabling smarter, faster decisions across the entire asset lifecycle.”
El Bitar emphasises leadership grounded in sustainability, innovation and collaboration. “Success in this space is never achieved alone; it’s a collective effort. Leadership requires building strong partnerships across industries, governments and technology providers.”
Regarding future energy talent, Hexagon focuses on nurturing young Emiratis. “We partner with top universities to co-develop curricula, support research and run innovation projects. Through internships, mentorships and workshops, we prepare students for careers in energy and digital transformation.”
On gender diversity, Hexagon launches initiatives to support women in leadership. “Female leaders play a key role in shaping our innovation agenda and driving growth. Empowering diverse voices helps us lead more effectively in a changing world.”
