Greta Shipping enters feeder arena with bold India–Middle East launch

Greta Shipping, a recent feeder entry, is introducing three lines specifically designed to link the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East. According to Alphaliner, the business, a Singapore-registered subsidiary fully owned by the Chinese giant Xiamen C&D, will formally begin operations in the middle of August. Greta Shipping’s JKX service will connect Karachi, Pakistan’s main port, with Jebel Ali, a transshipment hub in the Middle East. The service will be launched by the 2,444-teu ship Hui Fa, which the business just rented. Its inaugural voyage is planned on August 15 from Jebel Ali. It has been revealed that industry titan Hapag-Lloyd will co-load on this voyage.
Greta Shipping will use slot agreements with Hapag-Lloyd to launch two additional services, JIX1 and JIX2, in addition to JKX, into the UAE–Western India corridor. With effect from August 11, the JIX1 service will run over the Jebel Ali–Nhava Sheva–Jebel Ali segment of Hapag-Lloyd’s current IG1 (Gulf-Pakistan-India) loop. Greta Shipping will take over slots on Hapag-Lloyd’s KWF service, which is being expanded to include Kandla on the western coast of India, when the JIX2 launches on August 13.
