Gold stalwart Preece joins Sylvania board
Having held various leadership positions at companies such as Gold Fields and De Beers, Preece brings to the position more than 40 years’ experience in the mining industry, including a deep technical understanding of the full mining value chain.
Sylvania nonexecutive chairperson Eileen Carr says Preece’s depth and breadth of industry knowledge will complement the current skillset of the board and help develop the future strategy of Sylvania at a particularly exciting time in the PGM sector.
In turn, Preece is confident that Sylvania has well established capabilities and fiscal and operational discipline in place that will advance the company’s growth during a dynamic phase for the sector.
Sylvania produces PGMs and chrome from the Sylvania Dump Operations, in South Africa, which comprises six chrome beneficiation and PGM processing plants focusing on the retreatment of PGM-rich chrome tailings materials from mines in the Bushveld Complex.
