A high-level German delegation recently visited the Research and Development (R&D) Centre of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to explore Dubai's advancements in renewable energy and green hydrogen innovation. The delegation, led by Marco Loritz of the German Consulate and Karin Zangerl of the German Emirati Joint Council, included representatives from leading German hydrogen and energy firms.

During the visit, DEWA showcased its research portfolio, including internationally published studies and patents in solar energy, smart grids, and water technology. A key focus was DEWA's pioneering Green Hydrogen project, the first of its kind in the MENA region to produce hydrogen using solar power. Officials highlighted how the project supports the UAE’s top global ranking in green hydrogen competitiveness and its applications in transportation, industry, and energy storage.

The delegation also toured DEWA’s Sustainability and Innovation Centre and experienced a virtual tour of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park via metaverse technology. German representatives commended DEWA's initiatives and emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships, particularly in hydrogen, to secure sustainable energy and water resources for the future.
