Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA, has stated that, under the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai has developed into a city that continuously grows and prospers. He emphasized that the emirate’s future-ready infrastructure now serves as a global benchmark for efficiency, reliability, quality, and sustainability.

Al Tayer noted that Dubai’s status as one of the world’s fastest-growing cities has significantly increased demand for utilities. This drove a 20.4% year-on-year rise in commercial requests for electrical connections through DEWA’s Al Namoos service in the first half of 2025.

He explained that DEWA’s innovative digital services and programs enhance the resilience of Dubai’s infrastructure, enabling it to keep pace with rapid population growth, urban expansion, and economic development. The utility provides advanced systems to help accredited consultants and contractors accelerate project delivery and meet growing demand for electricity and water. In the first half of the year, DEWA received 4,809 requests for electricity connections, and the number of accredited consultants and contractors reached 2,198 as of 30 June 2025.

Rashid Bin Humaidan, Executive Vice President of Distribution Power at DEWA, added that the Al Namoos service allows these accredited professionals to request electricity connections for projects of up to 150 kilowatts in just two streamlined steps. The process is completed within five days, ensuring efficiency and speed for developers and stakeholders.
