Cambodia and Turkey sign agreement on international transport corridors

By: Khmer times

Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, and Ülkü Kocaefe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey, yesterday signed a deal to cooperate on the use of international transport corridors.

The deal aims to enhance relations and bolster cooperation between the two countries, especially in transport connectivity along the Central and TRACECA Corridors. It also envisions transforming Cambodia and Turkey into logistics hubs for their respective regions—Cambodia for ASEAN and Turkey for East Asia and Europe.

Minister Ponea thanked Ambassador Kocaefe and Turkish Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu for their initiative and support for the deal. He said that the corridor will serve as a vital link between Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Mediterranean, creating new opportunities for trade and investment.

As an ASEAN member with a strategic location and favourable conditions, Cambodia continues to promote regional integration and investment through the development of modern transport and logistics infrastructure.
