CSG to Build AED 300 Million Energy-Saving Glass Plant in Abu Dhabi
Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) has announced a significant industrial investment, with China Southern Glass (CSG) set to establish its first overseas intelligent manufacturing facility in the UAE. The AED 300 million (approximately $81.7 million) project will be located in the ICAD 1 area of Musaffah and is expected to create 400 specialized jobs, supporting Abu Dhabi's strategic goals for industrial growth and economic diversification.
The new 95,000-square-metre plant will serve as CSG's regional headquarters for the production of high-performance, energy-saving glass. Upon completion, the facility will have an annual production capacity of over 5 million square metres of coated, laminated, and insulating glass. This output will supply construction projects not only within the UAE but also across the Gulf region, Europe, Africa, and the United States.
A Strategic Investment for a Diversified Economy
Abdullah Al Hameli, CEO of Economic Cities & Free Zones at AD Ports Group, highlighted the significance of the investment. “This investment by CSG reflects strong confidence in Abu Dhabi’s industrial strategy,” he stated. “The project strengthens the industrial base, reduces reliance on imports, and creates opportunities across the value chain. KEZAD continues to attract leading sustainable businesses to the region.”
Wenxin Wang, Vice President & CFO of CSG Group, emphasized Abu Dhabi's strategic role, saying, “Abu Dhabi offers the ideal platform for our first Middle East manufacturing venture. Our fully digitalised, intelligent production lines will deliver premium energy-saving glass while supporting the long-term development of the local industrial economy.”
The state-of-the-art facility, which will feature automated production and advanced coating technology, is scheduled to begin operations in late 2026. The plant is poised to supply UAE developers with locally manufactured, high-quality glass, thereby advancing the region's clean energy and green building initiatives.
