A New Era in Energy

By: Oil & gas Middle east

The African Energy Chamber (AEC) has teamed up with Libya’s Ministry of Oil and Gas to launch the Energy Jeel Initiative, aimed at equipping young Libyans with the skills to lead in the energy sector.

The partnership focuses on developing youth skills, promoting innovation, and ensuring gender inclusion. It represents Libya’s commitment to harnessing human capital for a just energy transition across Africa. The AEC will facilitate training, internships, and workshops, while also providing access to Africa’s energy networks.

The Energy Jeel Initiative addresses Africa’s energy challenges, including energy poverty and workforce gaps. With significant oil and gas reserves, as well as solar and wind resources, Libya is poised to play a major role in Africa’s energy transition.

Recent developments, such as ExxonMobil’s engagement with Libya, highlight the country’s potential. The initiative will equip young professionals with the skills to lead future projects, aligning them with Libya’s expanding energy role.

NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of AEC, emphasises the importance of empowering Africa’s youth to lead the continent’s energy future, stating, “Libya’s Energy Jeel Initiative is a model for preparing the next generation of leaders.”

The initiative aims to connect Libyan youth with global stakeholders, ensuring they are ready for today’s jobs and equipped to lead Africa’s energy sector into the future.
