A new study suggests the Moon's craters may hold vast quantities of platinum-group metals, offering a more accessible target for space mining than asteroids. Researchers estimate that thousands of lunar craters, particularly about 40 large ones over 19 km wide, could contain valuable remnants from asteroid impacts. This finding proposes that mining these lunar sites could be more advantageous and profitable than chasing asteroids in orbit.
