The Zambian Government has created the Minerals Regulation Commission (MRC) as part of a restructuring of the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development. The MRC will independently oversee mine safety and mining rights administration with over 200 staff. New departments include the Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining Department and the Large-Scale Mining and Mineral Investment Promotion Department, focusing on improving mineral governance and fostering sustainable growth in Zambia’s mining sector, along with plans for decentralization to enhance service delivery....
