Namibia's central bank governor Johannes!Gawaxab has called for an extension of a royalty discount granted to Namdeb, a joint venture between De Beers and the Namibian government, to help the diamond miner weather a global market downturn. The discount was granted in 2021 to help Namdeb extend its land-based operations to 2042. De Beers argued that the industry is facing headwinds due to falling demand, a supply glut, and rising popularity of lab-grown diamonds....
