Tunisia and Saudi Arabia have strengthened bilateral ties with the signing of five cooperation agreements across multiple sectors. The accords were finalized during the 12th session of the Tunisian-Saudi Joint Committee, which opened in Riyadh on Sunday for a two-day meeting.

The agreements include:

  • A customs cooperation and mutual assistance agreement.
  • A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on postal sector collaboration.
  • An MoU on mining cooperation between Tunisia’s Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.
  • An MoU on radio and television cooperation between Tunisia’s national broadcasting institutions and the Saudi Broadcasting Authority.
  • An executive program for news exchange and cooperation between Tunis Afrique Presse and the Saudi Press Agency.

Tunisian Economy and Planning Minister Samir Abdelhafidh described the session as a significant step toward reinforcing the legal framework governing relations between the two countries. He noted that both sides agreed to continue working on finalizing additional agreements and would hold a private-sector meeting on Monday to explore investment opportunities.

Saudi Industry and Mineral Resources Minister Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef emphasized the committee’s role in enhancing trade, economic, and investment cooperation. He highlighted substantial opportunities for expanding collaboration, particularly within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030, and expressed commitment to increasing joint investments.

The joint committee was co-chaired by the two ministers, who also oversaw an accompanying economic forum aimed at promoting bilateral partnership and trade.
