TNPA Seeks Port of Ngqura Terminal Developer, Operator

South African state-owned logistics infrastructure agency the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) issued a request for proposal (RFP) for the appointment of a terminal operator for the Port of Ngqura in the Eastern Cape province.
The RFP covers the funding, design, development, construction, operation and maintenance of a liquid bulk terminal at the Eastern Cape port for 25 years. The contract also covers the transfer of a terminal from the Port of Port Elizabeth to the Port of Ngqura.
“This terminal is intended to foster regional and national economic growth while ensuring environmental sustainability,” stated Dineo Mazibuko, Acting General Manager-Commercial Services, TNPA.
The terminal will include liquid bulk storage tanks, road tanker loading gantries, pipelines and the necessary terminal operation infrastructure. Future expansion plans will include infrastructure for energy-related commodities such as liquified natural gas.
The RFP falls under TNPA’s Reinvent for Growth Strategy aimed at expanding and modernizing its logistics services.
