South Africa's Uru Metals Awards Contracts for Zeb Nickel Mine

By: Energy capital & power

UK-based mining company Uru Metals has awarded two engineering and services contracts to advance the development of the Zeb Nickel Project in South Africa’s Limpopo province.

The first contract, awarded to engineering company GF International, covers a combined ground gravity and frequency-domain electromagnetic survey. The survey will focus on two prospects to help refine Uru Metals’ drill targets. The second contract comprises the implementation of the environmental rehabilitation guarantee, a key requirement for Uru Metals to secure the Zeb Nickel mining right.

“Transitioning from airborne targeting to ground geophysics is the critical step to refine our highest-priority conductors along the intrusive margins. The program is designed to generate decision-ready targets for efficient drilling at Zeb Nickel,” said Richard Montjoie, Vice President of Exploration at Uru Metals.

The awarding of the contracts follows Uru Metals raising £420,000 from an investor in June and £300,000 through a private placement in April 2025 to support activities at Zeb. The project is estimated to hold 485.4 million tons with an average nickel grade of 0.245%.
