Sandvik Establishes New Regional Hub in Côte d'Ivoire to Bolster West African Mining

Global engineering leader Sandvik has announced the establishment of a new operational facility in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, signaling a major strategic commitment to West Africa's rapidly growing mining sector. The facility, scheduled to open in November, will serve as a central hub for cutting-edge mining technology and localized support, expanding the company's regional footprint beyond its existing operations in Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Mali.
This strategic placement within the Ivorian economic zone is designed to provide mining companies in Côte d'Ivoire with unparalleled on-the-ground assistance. The move ensures faster response times, a consistent supply of parts, and expert service for Sandvik's range of advanced Mining and Rock Solutions equipment.
A Vote of Confidence in the Region's Potential
The investment serves as a powerful endorsement of Côte d'Ivoire's economic future and its thriving mining industry, which has seen significant investment flowing into gold, manganese, and nickel exploration.
Nuhu Salifu, Vice-President and Managing Director of Sandvik Sales Area West Africa, emphasized that the expansion reflects the company's long-term belief in the region. "This new chapter in Côte d'Ivoire demonstrates our commitment to partnering with West Africa's growth," Mr. Salifu stated. "By establishing a local presence, we are not just serving the market; we are investing in it."
Investing in Local Talent and Corporate Culture
A core component of Sandvik's strategy is its investment in local Ivorian talent. The company has already begun recruiting and training a dedicated team to bring invaluable regional expertise to its operations.
New recruit Elidje André highlighted the company's people-first approach, noting that Sandvik's prioritization of employee health and welfare creates a strong foundation for customer service.
This corporate culture is also a key draw for internal talent. Emerick Gaye, who transferred from Sandvik's operation in Burkina Faso to join the new Abidjan team, cited the company's open and collaborative environment. "At Sandvik, there are no barriers between managers and ordinary employees. This open environment makes you feel truly valued," Gaye shared.
As the November launch approaches, the new Sandvik facility in Abidjan is poised to become a beacon of innovation, bringing world-class equipment and digital solutions closer to its customers and reinforcing the company's pivotal role in the region's industrial development.
