Uniting to harness potential of electricity sector in South Africa

As the professor puts it: “This framework is not merely an academic concept; it serves as a vital approach for unifying our nation and addressing pressing socio-economic challenges.”
“With around 60% of South Africans facing poverty, inequality, and unemployment, the urgency for hope and collaboration has never been more evident. The SA Inc mindset approach encourages a collective approach, where every citizen actively participates in shaping a brighter future,” says Padayachee.
He sees embracing a uniting mindset as important to create a shared identity and responsibility among citizens, business and the government as a way to inspire collectivity progress. Still, he doesn’t advocate for an unrealistic Pollyanna mindset, just a more positive way of trying to change the current landscape.
“As we explore the current landscape, we must acknowledge the significant challenges. The ongoing electricity crisis, marked by loadshedding, load reduction and inefficiencies, underscores the need for sustainable solutions. The Gini coefficient of 0.63 points to serious income inequality. We must confront the stark reality facing so many of our citizens.
“Unity is the cornerstone of the SA Inc mindset approach. Real progress can only be achieved when we come together, fostering an environment conducive to sustainable development. The electricity sector stands at a unique crossroads, with opportunities for businesses and individuals alike.”
