By: Creamer media

The chairpersonship allows Kumba to lead the association’s initiatives, influence policy and decision-making and foster collaboration across mining operations in the province.

Kumba has appointed Sishen mine manager Katlego Lebese to head the company’s activities with the NCMMA. His responsibilities will include steering discussions on emerging industry trends and driving continuous improvement in safety performance, environmental stewardship and operational excellence.

He comments that the opportunity will allow Kumba to show its values and foster a culture of innovation, safety and sustainability in the mining sector.

“We are committed to creating platforms for meaningful dialogue, knowledge sharing and collaboration that will drive strong and lasting positive change across the Northern Cape mining community.”

The NCMMA serves as a professional body for mine managers in the Northern Cape region to promote best practices in mining operations, help with the exchange of technical knowledge and address industry-specific challenges to the area.

The chairpersonship of the organisation rotates every year among member-mines to ensure diverse leadership and shared responsibility within the association.

Its members include managers from various commodities including manganese, diamonds and iron-ore.

Kumba operates the Sishen and Kolomela mines, in the Northern Cape.
