Kenya and France collaborate on NSCC project

Kenya has taken a major step toward modernising its national electricity transmission system with the launch of the National System Control Centre (NSCC) project in Embakasi, Nairobi.
The EUR82.7 million flagship initiative is being developed through a EUR48.6 million concessional sovereign loan from the French AFD and a EUR34.1 million concessional loan from the French Treasury. The NSCC is being implemented by a consortium of GE Vernova and Larsen & Toubro integrating cutting-edge supervisory control and data acquisition, energy management systems, and enterprise asset management technologies. The project will provide real-time grid monitoring, automated dispatch control, and full integration with substation outstations across the country. A mirrored emergency control centre at the Suswa substation complex and a modern communication backbone will ensure redundancy and enhance operational reliability.
