H.E. Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), showcased the UAE’s district cooling achievements at the International Energy Leadership Programme, highlighting the country’s global leadership in energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and sustainable urban solutions.

The programme, organised by the UAE’s Government Experience Exchange Office, brought together 30 senior energy leaders from 19 countries. Its agenda included field visits, interactive workshops, and discussions designed to enhance leadership capabilities and showcase the UAE’s innovative government and energy models.

During the event, Bin Shafar delivered a presentation on the UAE’s district cooling sector, which has become a regional and global benchmark. He emphasised Empower’s pivotal role in advancing energy efficiency and resource conservation, noting that the company’s projects have helped eliminate millions of tons of carbon emissions annually and save billions of kilowatt-hours of electricity.

“The International Energy Leadership Programme serves as a vital platform for knowledge exchange, highlighting the UAE’s pioneering role in fostering international partnerships for a sustainable future,” Bin Shafar said. He added that Dubai’s district cooling experience provides environmental, economic, and social value, supporting a green economy.

He also reaffirmed Empower’s alignment with national sustainability strategies, including the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy and the UAE Net-Zero by 2050 initiative, stating that the company is committed to accelerating the transition to energy efficiency and a sustainable green economy.
