EMSTEEL Group, a major UAE steel and building materials manufacturer, has partnered with the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) to decarbonize its operations by sourcing clean, nuclear-generated electricity certified under Abu Dhabi’s Clean Energy Certificates Program. This agreement enables EMSTEEL to lower its Scope 2 emissions, making it the first regional steelmaker to use nuclear energy certificates. The company now integrates 86% clean electricity in its steel production and aims for 100% by 2030. This collaboration builds on a long-term partnership, where EMSTEEL previously supplied nuclear-grade rebar for the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, and highlights how cross-sector cooperation supports the UAE’s industrial decarbonization and Net Zero 2050 goals....
